Our Battle of Britain tour is steeped in history and takes a look at some of the most intriguing aviation and war museums in Britain. With such special experiences our Battle of Britain 9 day tour is a tour of a lifetime for any history buff. Visit sites such as the Churchill Museum and War Cabinet Rooms, the National Memorial Arboretum and the American Air Museum War Rooms, RAF bases and Bovington Tank Museum.

Itinerary

DAY 1 LONDON – CAMBRIDGE
Today we’ll visit the Churchill Museum and War Cabinet Rooms and conquer the impressive Imperial War Museum in London before arriving in the charming city of Cambridge to enjoy a walking tour. After a rich day of sightseeing, we’ll enjoy a group dinner together. (D)

DAY 2 CAMBRIDGE – COTON – WOODHALL SPA
This morning we’ll pay our respects to fallen veterans by visiting the American Cemetery and Memorial in Coton. Next: visits to the Imperial War Museum in Duxford and the American Air Museum, where we’ll observe dramatic displays performed by original aircraft. After that, it’s time to go airborne with an included Dragon Rapide flight over Cambridge. After, we’ll mote to Woodhall Spa and spend the night at the Petwood Hotel, home to the legendary Dambusters. (B)

DAY 3 WOODHALL SPA – CONINGSBY – SPILSBY – TATTERSHALL – WOODHALL SPA
Today we’ll visit RAF Coningsby before continuing to East Kirkby Aviation Heritage Centre – home of the famous Lancaster Bomber. In the afternoon, we’ll visit the Thorpe Camp Visitor Centre to learn about the former airfield and the squadrons that were based there, and to gain an insight into life in Lincolnshire during WWII. This evening, we’ll settle in for dinner at a local restaurant. (B,D)

DAY 4 WOODHALL SPA – SCAMPTON – CANWICK – LINCOLN – WOODHALL SPA
Today will capture the attention of history buffs with included visits to RAF Scampton (the base of the Red Arrows), the notable Memorial Spire and the Wall of Names, and the Chadwick Centre. Later, we’ll explore Lincoln’s Cathedral and Castle before we indulging in a delicious dinner back at the hotel. (B,D)

DAY 5 WOODHALL SPA – COSFORD – LEAMINGTON SPA
Today we’ll visit RAF Cosford, where we’ll have the chance to take a close look at the original bombers, before continuing to the National Memorial Arboretum. In the evening, we’ll move on to our hotel in Leamington Spa, where you can spend the evening at your leisure. (B)

DAY 6 LEAMINGTON SPA – BLETCHLEY – WINCHESTER
First today: a visit to Bletchley Park, the birthplace of modern information technology. After an insightful morning, we’ll take a tour of the Swiss Garden and the Shuttleworth Collection – one of the most prestigious collections of aircraft and vehicles in the world – at Biggleswade. Then, it’s on to Winchester. (B)

DAY 7 WINCHESTER – WEYMOUTH – WAREHAM – WINCHESTER
After breakfast, we’ll head to the Dorset coastline to observe the Fleet Lagoon and the Weymouth Black Down. Then, we’ll continue the day’s journey to the Bovington Tank Museum. Here, we’ll embark on a guided tour and see a Mark IV WWI tank along the way. (B)

DAY 8 WINCHESTER – GOSPORT – PORTSMOUTH
Today we’ll direct our attention to Portsmouth, where we’ll visit the HMS Victory – best known as Lord Nelson’s flagship at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. Afterwards, we’ll continue to the D-Day Museum. Here, we’ll meet an RAF veteran, who’ll share his experiences with us. (B,D)

DAY 9 PORTSMOUTH – LONDON
Before we say farewell, there’s still time for visits to Tangmere Military Aviation Museum and Biggin Hill Hangar – where we’ll see six fully restored Spitfire aircraft. Then, it’s back to London. (B)
