Using Your Ticket
Simply place your London Oyster card on the yellow card readers at the start and end of your journey on Tube, London Overground and National Rail services. On buses and trams, you only need to tap your card on the yellow reader at the start of your journey.
If you run out of credit, you can easily top up using the ticket machines available at any station or at thousands of shops displaying the Oyster Card logo across London.
Included in your London Oyster Card price is a GBP5.00 non-refundable fee required for the card’s first activation.

Traveling with Children
Children under 11 travel free on buses and trams. Children under 11 also travel free on Tube, DLR, London Overground, Elizabeth line and some National Rail services when accompanied by a fare-paying adult (up to four children per adult).
If you’re travelling with children aged 11-16, buy a Visitor London Oyster card before you leave Australia and, when you arrive in London, you can ask a member of London Transport staff to add a Young Visitor discount to a Visitor Oyster card.

- A £20 card will cover a full day of travel from Heathrow Airport to central London by tube or the Elizabeth Line (doesn’t apply on the Heathrow Express).
- For a single journey on both the Gatwick Express or National Rail services, the recommended amount is a £25 Visitor Oyster card.
- Choose a £20 Visitor Oyster card for full day of unlimited travel in central London within zones 1-2 or a £25 card for 3 days.
- A weekend in Central London, plus return travel to Heathrow Airport will be covered with a £40 card and a £50 card will cover the same but with return travel to Gatwick Airport.
